Well, it is officially New Years Eve, it also happens to be my 31st birthday today! I’m not sure how it happened but alas, here we are! lol

L’Ensemble Du Jour: Black & White Delight

For my Labor Day attire, I decided to wear this darling 1960’s maxi dress as the weather had finally cooled down a bit. I just love the print on this one, it reminds me of a mod patchwork quilt! The ruffled side slit adds just a touch of whimsy.

L’ Ensemble Du Jour: Orange Crush

Since I posted about Orange lipstick last week, I have found myself being drawn to the colour like a moth to a flame! So when I spied this little citrus hued floral sundress in someone else’s arms at a local thrift store, I made sure to (politely) hover in her vicinity in case she decided to skip it. Lucky for me, she did not purchase it.

After trying it on, I knew I had to take it home with me. The thing that surprised me the most about this frock was that it is not actually vintage, which it certainly appeared at first glance. Nope! This fit n’ flare dress was made by none other than Isaac Mizrahi…for Target! At 10 bucks, I just could not resist.

Nothing says Summer like a red & white gingham day dress. While trying to keep cool in last weeks grueling heatwave, this lightweight cotton frock was truly a life saver!

Girl About Town: The Lovely Aurora

I have been wanting to do a regular post about women on the streets of NYC for a while now. Every time I saw an outfit or a hairstyle that I wanted to photograph, I didn’t have my camera with me! Luckily, earlier this week I spotted the lovely Aurora while shopping on Clinton Street and I just happened to have my Nikon handy! 

Topsy Turban!

One of my favorite go-to accessories in the summer months is a turban! These babies are truly magnificent at covering up a bad hair day or keeping all of your hair off of your neck and shoulders when the mercury starts rising. There’s just something about a turban that always looks chic and glamorous. Many of old Hollywood’s elite have been photographed wearing this timeless head adornment since the early turn of the century.

Summer is officially here, and mother nature has certainly made that clear today! With temperatures suddenly soaring into the upper 90’s, she has decided to get straight to the point with a record-breaking heatwave. While New York City is sweltering in this unprecedented weather change, I tried my best to keep my cool while still looking hot 😉

L’Ensemble Du Jour: Mod Squad

Every now and then while thrifting or digging through a pile of clothes at a local fleamarket, you will find a truly unexpected gem. For me, it happened over memorial day weekend when it was super hot and humid and I was just about to leave. I happened to spy this beautiful sweater dress sticking out from underneath a bunch of random clothing. Immediately intrigued, I pulled her out from the abyss to have a closer look. I asked the price, 3 whole dollars, and upon viewing the label, I knew I had just made a super score. It was a Milly dress! Milly is one of my favorite brands because not only do her designs eloquently mimic lust-worthy vintage looks but the quality and cut of her garments are superb. 

L’ Ensemble Du Jour: Hawaiian Punch

I finally stopped back into “A Little Wicked” yesterday to visit my girl Sammy D and give her a little vintage love. I bought her a crystal necklace from a fleamarket a month ago and had been carrying it around in my purse ever since! I decided that our paths needed to cross and we had a ball at the shop. It was hot and humid out, so I needed to whip up something cool and refreshing from my closet. I purchased this vintage playsuit/romper over the winter. I love the vibrant floral print and the cut of the fabric makes the most of my shape. A great find at $12.00 (Thrifted). I decided to keep my jewelry low key and put in tiny studs and my vintage sterling puffy heart necklace. I also wore a vintage corsage blossom in my hair and clipped it all up on top of my head. It is too gosh darn humid to let her loose! The vintage orange leather heels were from the shop and was a last-minute replacement for my patent leather Birkenstock sandals. Lastly, the hand-painted parasol was purchased in Chinatown for around $5.00. I am a huge fan of parasols in the summer months as they provide shade for my fair skin while looking glamorous at the same time. This was a fun outfit, can’t wait to wear it again 😉

Fleamarket Finds!

Picked up a couple of vintage goodies over the weekend while scouring the local markets.  Check out my mini haul below 😉Vintage 1950’s rhinestone dog brooch $3.00. I love figural brooches, especially animals. I saw his little green eyes and knew I had to adopt him!
