I first met Ashley at the MAC Hey Sailor event back in the spring when I was instantly drawn to her awesome retro updo. As fate would have it, I had the pleasure of running into her again at the 41st Annual East Village Block Fair a couple of weeks ago. It was funny because I didn’t even recognize her as the last time I saw her she was a redhead with glasses! Ashley is truly a little pinup chameleon and I just adored this darker rockabilly look. Last month, I had my very first official photoshoot with a professional photographer! My lovely friend and fabulous hairdresser Arsenia called me and told me she was looking to do a 1930′s style shoot for her book and I jumped at the chance to work with her! She created these gorgeous vintage finger waves to accent my own 1930’s lace dress. Since I posted about Orange lipstick last week, I have found myself being drawn to the colour like a moth to a flame! So when I spied this little citrus hued floral sundress in someone else’s arms at a local thrift store, I made sure to (politely) hover in her vicinity in case she decided to skip it. This fit n’ flare dress was made by none other than Isaac Mizrahi…for Target! At 10 bucks, I just could not resist. Continue reading
There are lots of local markets on the weekend here in the city, but Hester Street Fair is one that is favored by many. This small patch of gated concrete inside of Seward Park attracts foodies, artisans and of course, vintage lovers! So, I decided to see what all the hub bub was about and took a stroll there this afternoon through the many tented booths chock full of good eats and secondhand treasures. Continue reading
Nothing says Summer like a red & white gingham day dress. While trying to keep cool in last weeks grueling heatwave, this lightweight cotton frock was truly a life saver! Continue reading
As a retro pin up with vintage style, one of the key looks in your make-up arsenal is a bold red lip! Being an old-school kinda gal, a coordinating lip liner is essential for me in getting my lips just right. I know many women shy away from lip liner, but it is a huge component in making your lipstick stay in place and last all day. Just as a belt can define your waist, a liner can add definition to your unique lip shape! Continue reading
