Film Noir Photoshoot!

ArseniaAimeeShootB&W

On Christmas Eve, I stopped in to see my amazing friend and genius hairdresser Arsenia Barias at her salon, Altagracia Unisex. I decided I wanted to try something new for the upcoming year and after watching the film for “Water For Elephants” (one of my favorite books of all time), I was very inspired by Reese Witherspoon’s 1920’s/1930’s chic bob! L’ Ensemble Du Jour: Orange Crush

Since I posted about Orange lipstick last week, I have found myself being drawn to the colour like a moth to a flame! So when I spied this little citrus hued floral sundress in someone else’s arms at a local thrift store, I made sure to (politely) hover in her vicinity in case she decided to skip it. Lucky for me, she did not purchase it.

After trying it on, I knew I had to take it home with me. The thing that surprised me the most about this frock was that it is not actually vintage, which it certainly appeared at first glance. Nope! This fit n’ flare dress was made by none other than Isaac Mizrahi…for Target! At 10 bucks, I just could not resist.   Continue reading

Mila Kunis Goes Retro: Miss Dior Fall 2012 Ad Campaign

Following in her “Black Swan” co-star Natalie Portman’s footsteps, Mila Kunis is now the new face of Miss Dior. While her Spring 2012 campaign was beautiful, she really knocked it out of the park with this surprisingly retro look for fall.

I’ve loved her ever since I saw her for the first time on “That 70’s Show”, (one of my guilty pleasures).  While her character Jackie Burkhart was a spoiled, bossy and often times mean-spirited teen, she has since showcased her acting versatility in major motion pictures like “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and  “Friends With Benefits”. Not to mention being the voice of Meg Griffin on Family Guy!

These amazing black and white  photographs, taken by Mario Sorrenti, depict Ms. Kunis as a glamorous 1950’s starlet being hounded by photographers. She looks oh so chic in her jeweled sweater, pencil skirt and of course her classic crocodile chain link handbag!

Just gorgeous! Mila, you are pin up perfection 😉

XOXO

Girl About Town: The Lovely Aurora

I have been wanting to do a regular post about women on the streets of NYC for a while now. Every time I saw an outfit or a hairstyle that I wanted to photograph, I didn’t have my camera with me! Luckily, earlier this week I spotted the lovely Aurora while shopping on Clinton Street and I just happened to have my Nikon handy!  Continue reading

Vintage Inspired Swimwear Under $55.00 for all Sizes!

Ladies! It’s that time of year again! Time to hit the pool, the beach or your own backyard in your best one or two-piece swimsuit! Why not kick off the summer season in style with a new vintage-inspired little number?

I don’t know about you guys, but I hate to spend a lot of money on bathing suits. Most people only wear them a few times a year and the rest of the time they sit in a drawer longing for the ocean waves.

For that reason, I try to purchase my swimwear for as little as possible while still looking stylish. While I would rather wear a legitimately vintage suit, they are hard to come by in good wearable condition and if they are they are often quite pricey. The sizing can be tricky as well for fitting today’s modern woman.

Luckily, there are so many affordable options out there for all you pinups on a budget. I did the legwork for you with my trusty bargain hunting skills and selected 12 of my favorite picks for $55.00 and under!

From juniors to plus-size to maternity, I got you covered! Check them out below and I’ll catch you poolside (Don’t forget to bring the sunscreen 😉  Continue reading
