Last Friday, I attended the Manhattan Vintage Show and I still feel like I am walking on cloud nine! It was my first time seeing it and from the minute I stepped inside, I felt as though I were home. I walked through what felt like endless rows of some of the finest treasures I’ve ever encountered with a sense of wonder and amazement. For me, it was like that first moment when Willy Wonka opened the doors to the chocolate room, lol! It was honestly a bit overwhelming. I didn’t know where to look first and my heart was pounding a mile a minute while my brain tried to process what I was seeing! Today was (sadly) the unofficial end of summer. What better way to give her one last hurrah than with a little vintage swimwear post!
Country Living Magazine is one of my faves and they often have vintage specific content that I just can’t get enough of. While recently going through some old issues, I spotted a very familiar swimsuit staring back at me from an article on collecting vintage bathing suits. Lo and behold, it was my grandmother Libby’s fabulous floral one-piece by Catalina! I always loved that picture of her standing with my great grandmother in the Coney Island surf. Continue reading
