Designers are constantly influenced by styles of the past whether it be a silhouette, a pattern, a cut or a fabric. Whenever I really like a contemporary garment, it is almost always because it reminds me of something vintage. So, when I saw the lovely Jessica Alba in this Valentino Resort 2013 gown, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of deja vu! This reminded be so much of the wedding gown Grace Kelly wore in the 1956 classic film, High Society. From the airy draped chiffon to the elaborate floral embroidery, these pieces are clearly cut from the same cloth.
