Last week I was looking through my closet and found this little black Betsey Johnson dress. I bought it at a thrift shop a few weeks back and decided that today was the day to bring her out into the world. Sometimes, you’ll have a fancy dress laying around collecting dust for years waiting for the proper occasion to be debuted. In true Betsey fashion, I decided to wear this dress and hat just because! Some days you just want to feel pretty, and what better way to get there than by wearing a full skirted lace dress with an elegant feathered hat! I met a lot of wonderful people that day while walking around the city, but had I opted to wear something less extravagant, I may not have had the opportunity.
While thrifting earlier this week, a pair of sunglasses managed to catch my eye from clear across the shop. They were big, bright and bold as well as somewhat familiar looking. That was when I spun through my fashion memory bank and realized that they bore a striking resemblance to Prada’s Minimal Baroque Sunglasses! I loved the curve of these shades and the black and white combo feels so fresh and summery. After trying them on in a nearby mirror, I knew I had to have them. The $8.95 price tag made this designer inspired find all the more sweet!
Today I wore these bad-boys with a vintage gingham plaid dress (thrifted), my favorite patent leather Clarks sandals and my vintage white wicker handbag. Topped of with vintage milk-glass screwbacks and a rhinestone cat brooch, the ensemble was complete! Looking forward to wearing these all season long!
Ah, the annual Costume Institute Gala at NYC’s Metropolitan Museum of Art! That last taste of couture after the awards season comes to a close. There’s nothing like it!
In addition to being one of my favorite places in the world, one night a year celebrities flock in droves to strut their stuff on the red carpet in honor of the art of fashion. Continue reading
Most of you who know me are fully aware of my love affair with Betsey Johnson. In my eyes, the woman can do no wrong! So with a credit card in my hand and visions of pink tutus in my head, I made the trip up to the Times Square area to check out her Spring sample sale at the Millennium Broadway Hotel!
This weather has truly been outrageous!
I made a lunch date with my dear friend Becky on Monday to meet at my favorite pizzeria, Rosario’s!
One of my favorite things in the world are florals. They evoke happiness and embody femininity at its best. Blooms of all kinds are showing up on the runways this season, and some of the best I’ve seen were at the Dolce & Gabbana Fall/Winter 2012 fashion show! Inspired by Baroque Sicilian decorative tapestries, the petit point embroidered floral pieces in this collection were fantastic! The dresses, the shoes, the handbags…all beautiful replications of classic antiquities brought back to life as only D&G can.
It was a fairly miserable rainy day today here in NYC, so I decided to wear something Springy and cheerful to brighten my mood. What better way to chase away the blues than to rock hot pink and a sweet floral print?
