Fashion Week came and went ever so quickly this September and there were a surprising amount of vintage inspired collections on the runways! While I am not much of a label hound (Seriously, who has that kind of money to burn?), I like seeing designers with a retro spirit and obvious appreciation for the classics. After going through what felt like a zillion photos from all of the shows, I managed to weed out the best vintage looks for Spring 2013! From 1930’s Art Deco evening wear to mid-century floral frocks, there’s a little something for everyone 😉
Oh, Oscar! Your aqua pieces above blew me away. Nice to see my favorite colour on these fabulous mid-century inspired silhouettes.
Here are some other retro inspired looks from his collection. I totally could imagine Grace Kelly in that black and white striped gown! Oh, and Oscar, I want that black peplum jacket with the rose brooch in my closet 😉
Yes, yes, yes! Vivienne Westwood has managed to capture the quintessential early 1960’s look (think Mad Men) effortlessly in her collection. The cropped pant, the brocade fabric, the wiggle dress; All swoon worthy! Her attention to detail is just impeccable. The hats, gloves pointy toed pumps and handbags are very spot on!
Zac seemed to transport us back to the 1930’s and 40’s in his amazing collection. The fit n’ flare sweetheart dresses are absolute perfection (as are his prints!). My favorite pieces are the bias cut trumpet hem gown modeled by Alex Wek and the red and white floral frock modeled by none other than Miss Naomi Campbell! Work it, girl!
Zac had an additional retro inspired collection modeled here by the lovely Coco Rocha. These playful looks are definitely lust-worthy! I am dying for the short and jacket set with the olive silk blouse!
OMG, where do I begin? The sheer layers of tulled chiffon? The lace and burnout florals? The hats?! Temperley really outdid themselves with their marvelously ethereal versions of 1950’s fashions! The sweet periwinkle blue combined with crisp whites are pure pinup perfection!
I loved the mix of hard and soft in this collection! It’s like Sandra Dee’s darkside 😉 The inky navy paired with jet black is fresh, while the shapes are classic with pinup appeal. Can we talk about those high-waisted shorts? Gorgeous!
Lastly, to satisfy your sweet-tooth for old Hollywood, may I present to you the stunning gowns of Reem Acra! These are some serious screen siren dresses! Can’t you just picture them on Marilyn, Liz, Ava or Rita at the Oscars? Delicious!
Until next time, Dolls!
