Local Haunts: The Hester Street Fair

There are lots of local markets on the weekend here in the city, but Hester Street Fair is one that is favored by many. This small patch of gated concrete inside of Seward Park attracts foodies, artisans and of course, vintage lovers! So, I decided to see what all the hub bub was about and took a stroll there this afternoon through the many tented booths chock full of good eats and secondhand treasures.

It was a beautiful day for a market jaunt!

Vendors abound!

Vintage costume jewelry! This guy had a nice collection and really knew his stuff.

Figural brooches? Yes, please 😉

Gorgeous Aurora Borealis rhinestone bracelets!

The creme de la creme brooches were in a glass case. That iridescent pink Juliana piece was do die for!!! Sigh….

I was totally enamored of everything at the Cotillion Vintage booth. Anna Murrin, the owner, has a keen eye for quintessential feminine pieces. Her hats (among other things!) were calling out my name!

I wanted the little pink floral number! So sweet!

Great scarves

This man’s entire booth was filled with feline related paper goods! From notecards to matted prints, there was something to satisfy anyone’s inner cat lady or man! lol

Here is the Wildfell Vintage booth! Amy Thorowgood has quite a lovely collection of pieces!

Tons of great dresses

I am a sucker for novelty prints, and this is by far one of the coolest I have ever seen! Channel your inner Cleopatra in this Egyptian motif!

That watermelon picnic basket is AWESOME!

For all you dapper gentlemen out there, come to the Creme De La Cuff booth! Ken has amassed a wonderfully extensive collection of vintage cuff links, tie bars, tie tacks and other man candy from the 40’s & 50’s.

Lots of great high-end sets!

These were my favorite by Swank!

Here are Courtney & Marion of Love Junkie NY! These two fashionably fierce ladies love vintage and it shows! They had some great stuff at their both and they were very cool gals 😉

Soaking in all the fine vintage goodness!

I fell in love with their emerald beaded evening gown!

Here is a booth of original NYC themed art by Live Art On The Street. Created by Nicolas and his brother Angel, these pieces are made from newspaper clippings and then painted onto canvas.

Neat, huh?

Over at the Collaborations of Love booth, these paintings immediately caught my attention. So many of my favorite people all in one place!

Fantastic work! Loooved the Jimi Hendrix piece!

Earrings made from unused acrylic dentures? Yes they do exist!

Creepy! Get your own here (if u dare)!

More treasure!

Vintage everywhere!

Like what you see? Come on down to the Hester Street Fair next Saturday! You’ll be sure to find something to tickle your fancy 😉

Until next time, Dolls!
